Abstract
In the present study, site characterization and overall response of a typical pile group have been assessed for the construction of 4-lane elevated corridor in Deesa Town on NH-27 in the state Gujarat, India. The liquefaction analysis has been done for the site as the site is located at seismic zone IV. It has been found that the factor of safety against liquefaction is greater than 1.2 and liquefaction potential index is zero. It has been perceived from liquefaction analysis that the site is under very low risk of liquefaction. The load carrying capacity, total displacement and stresses have been investigated for a pile group considering no water table and water table at the ground surface with the aid of Plaxis 3D. It has been revealed that for considering water table at ground surface, the settlement increased by 31.57%. Furthermore, it has been noticed that the load carrying capacity of piles decreased by 12.2% for taking water table at ground level.
