Abstract
Remote microgrids are used for the electrification of areas where connection from main grid is not feasible and economical. Further, to maintain the system economical, the monitoring station of these remote microgrids should be located at a common place feasible for engineers. The monitoring of these microgrids is essential to analyze the power flow of the system. This in turn can be used for fault detection and localization which gives an idea to the visiting engineer about the malfunctioning devices. However, the data transmitted over the communication channel should be minimum so that a lowbandwidth communication can be utilized. This paper presents an adaptive model based scheme which only uses the load node information for monitoring the power flow of the network. The adaptive system used MRAS technique for estimating the equivalent Thevenin's impedance of the load. This impedance is utilized by the local microgrid model to adapt itself according to the changes in remote microgrid.
