Abstract
We present a SAW-based platform with a portable actuator towards the separation of plasma from 20-fold diluted blood. The process could be resolved within 135 sec and the repeatability of the same was studied using ATR-FTIR spectroscopy (wherein the device-derived plasma was compared to centrifuge-derived plasma). The SAW-chip showed >90% separation of RBC and plasma components while the RBC count in the process chamber post-process indicated ca. 98% collection. Furthermore, the similarity of the samples from different runs was also virtually identical to that obtained from centrifugation.
