Abstract
We investigated phonon dynamics of multiferroic YCrO3 using infrared (IR) spectroscopy, supported by first-principles simulations across the antiferromagnetic (AFM) transition temperature (TN) 138 K. Magnetic field and temperature-dependent measurements of phonon energies (ω) and linewidth (Γ) across TN allow us to narrow down the anomalous T dependence due to magnetoelastic coupling and exclude magnon-phonon coupling and magnetostriction effects as governing mechanisms.
