Abstract
Salen-type ligands represent a very common class of N2O2 donor tetradentate ligands, widely used in the synthesis of a variety of complexes with several transition metals. The ligands may form mononuclear Mn(III) complexes, which could in turn be bridged by the cyanide groups of an appropriate cyanometalate to form polynuclear complexes with interesting structures and magnetic properties. This review focuses light on the synthesis, X-ray structures and magnetic properties (in brief) of various cyanide bridged polynuclear complexes containing Mn(III)-salen building blocks.
